WHY MUST WE ADVERTISE HIM?
“… Worthy is the lamb that was slain to receive power, and riches, and wisdom, and strength, and honor, and glory, and blessing. Revelation 5:12
Jesus did not go to the cross to secure benefits for Himself. But rather His going to the cross was firstly to reconcile man back to God through the mystery of new birth, and secondly to secure for him the seven-fold benefits listed in the scriptural passage above. These are the reasons we must celebrate Him.
The salvation of our soul is the greatest of all miracles. In God’s estimation, to gain the whole world and loose one’s soul is to lose everything. But Jesus came and shed His blood on the cross of Calvary, and it became the atonement for our sins before God (Luke 22:20). He nailed everything that was contrary to our welfare to His cross (Col. 2:14) and delivered to us, power to become the sons of God (John 1:12), and heirs of eternal life (John 3:16).
Salvation in Christ Jesus is the qualifier for the release of every other blessing that man would ever desire from God. Thanks be unto Jesus therefore, who has also obtained for all believers, power, riches, wisdom, strength, honor, glory and blessings.
But do we need all these Provisions?
Let’s start with power
We know from the word of God that our enemy the devil will only submit to us through the display of power. This is not physical power, but spiritual, for we are continually in contention with the forces of darkness and wickedness (Eph. 6:12). But because Jesus has obtained for us power, we can face every satanic assault and declare “Be paralyzed!” and the opposition is crushed.
We have the power (in Christ) to tread upon the serpent and scorpions of life without been hurt (Luke 10:19) Hallelujah!!!
Jesus also obtained for us riches and blessings which manifest in His grace to prosper in the works of our hands. For the bible states in II Cor. 8:9
For ye know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that, though He was rich, yet for your sakes He became poor so that ye through His poverty might be rich.
Jesus Christ has not only redeemed us from sins, He has also connected us to heavenly blessings (Gal. 3:13-14).
Honor and glory are attributes of kings and these enable them to rule and exercise dominion. Our Lord Himself exhibited these virtues in the authority He exercised over situations and circumstances as exemplified in the numerous miracles he performed during His earthly ministry. It is the same order of honor and glory He obtained for us (John 17:22) so that we may continually show forth His praise in our lives. He has made us kings unto our God (Rev. 5:10).
He obtained for us strength, and this manifests in good health and longevity. Jesus Christ “Himself took our infirmities, and bare our sickness” (Matt. 8:17). Good health and long life are part and parcel of our redemption benefits in Christ Jesus.
Finally, Jesus obtained for us wisdom, and this I believe is delivered via His gift of the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit is the Custodian of divine wisdom, and one of His principal functions is to quicken our understanding (Isaiah 11:3), teach us all things and bring all things to our resemblance (John 14:26).
In John 16:13, the bible states
Howbeit when the Spirit of truth is come, He will guide you into all truth: for He shall not speak of Himself; but whatsoever He shall hear, that shall He speak: And He will show you things to come.
To be filled with, and enjoy the leading of the Holy Spirit empower every believer to walk in divine wisdom. This also, is one of the cardinal benefits of redemption.
The scriptural references listed below will provide further insight on why every child of God must be involved in lifting up the name of Jesus and projecting Him as the Savior of the entire world. Each of the scriptures literarily provides the answer to the question of why we must advertise Jesus?
WE MUST ADVERTISE JESUS BECAUSE;
God wants ALL to come to the knowledge of the truth and be saved.
For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God and our Savior. Who will have all men to be saved, and to come to the knowledge of the truth 1 Tim. 2:3-4.
God Himself has highly exalted Jesus, and given Him a name which is above every other name.
Wherefore God has highly exaltedHim, and given Him a name which is above every name: that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth. Philip. 2:9-10.
Lifting Jesus up “is the condition for the “drawing up” of men.
And I, If I lifted up from the earth, will draw all men unto me John 12:32.
If we do not speak to warn the wicked man on his ways, and he eventually dies, then his blood shall be required from our hands.
When I say unto the wicked, O wicked man, thou shalt surely die; if thou dost not speak to warn the wicked from his way, that wicked man shall die in his iniquity; but his blood will I require at thine hand. Ezek. 33:8
Jesus is the way through which anyone can reach God.
Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth and the life: No man cometh unto the Father, but by me, John 14:6
Every child of God is called and empowered by the Holy Spirit to witness Jesus to the world, beginning from where he is.
But ye shall receive power after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth, Acts 1:8.
Everybody needs Jesus Christ.
For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of god, Romans 3:23. The souls that God wants to save abound everywhere, but soul-winners are few.
Then saith He unto His disciples, the harvest truly is plenteous, but the laborers are few, Matt. 9:37.
God will reward us for winning souls.
And he that reapeth receiveth wages, and gathereth fruit unto life eternal: that both he that soweth and he that reapeth may rejoice together, John 4:36.
